i don't wanna be a leaf....

i was driving home a bit ago, and i saw a leaf.

it was blowing all around....being tossed about....

attempting to land for a split second....only to be flown about some more.

then, i looked around and saw the light poles.

i saw how sturdy and unmoving they are.

and....then i thought....

i don't wanna be a leaf.

in this life, there will be (and currently are) things that threaten to toss me around...beat me up...and knock me around. will i let them?

immediately, i thought of the passage in the bible that says....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

"Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears My words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

i love the reminders- that if i know God's Word and His truths,

i will not be tossed about. i will not be shaken.

if i build my foundation upon my ROCK and my Redeemer....

i will never be a leaf!
